Today we would like to introduce you to Ian. He is an eight year old member of the Boys & Girls Club of Milford and has been a part of the program for over 2 years. Ian is an only child and lives with his loving and very hard working mother. She often has to work the night shift, which is what makes the Club such an integral part of their lives. When Ian first came to the Club transitioning to the new environment was an issue, as he struggles with behavioral and emotional disabilities. Ian's mother fought to find a program that worked for her son and was very proactive in trying to find the best fit for him. Working with several agencies she found her answer within the Club.
Over the course of two years he has made significant improvement. He has gone from reacting with instinct in a negative way, often unable to complete programs because he was unable to follow the rules or be a part of a large group. To understanding our expectations and rules and now being a key role model in our Future Leaders, Conflict Resolution program among many others. The shy boy who struggled to communicate and make friends, is now surrounded with love and people, often seen high fiving everyone as he walks down the hallway. Ian may have disabilities and is always working to overcome his struggles, however, when Ian is at the Club he is a typical Club kid, enjoying life, using his manners and working to become a productive caring and responsible member of our community.
For Ian and every member of the Boys & Girls Club it only costs $100 for the entire year to be a part of the Boys & Girls Club of Milford's life changing programs. The Boys & Girls Club's goal is to have these low fees as to not have any barriers in the way of kids joining our program. While we strive to keep the costs low for families, the reality is that the cost of one child attending our program costs over $1500.00. The Boys & Girls Club of Milford would not exist if it were not for the support of donors such as yourself. Thank you for making a difference in Ian and over 500 other kids like Ian's life. You truly are making a difference, Thank You!
